7 Steps For Promoting Your MLM Blog

So you created an MLM blog … good for you! Unfortunately, so have millions of other people out there. In order for people to actually find your MLM blog and read it, you have to promote it.

There are thousands of ways to promote your blog and great bloggers, like the ones on Copyblogger and Problogger, will offer you tons of resources on how to promote your blog once you have been doing it for a while. In the meantime, when you’re first getting started, there are 7 basic steps you should take to promote your blog.

1. Claim Your MLM Blog on Technorati
This is a crucial step that will bring you a lot of traffic as you continue to post to your blog. Technorati is a very popular search engine that provides content for people looking for blogs. “Claiming” your blog on Technorati just means registering it, and the process is very simple. Once you “claim” your blog, the Technorati site will begin spidering and indexing your blog. This helps people find your blog and drives traffic to it.

2. Submit Select MLM Blog Posts to Article Directories
If you post to your blog frequently (at least 4-7 days a week), then you’ll probably have a variety of posts. Some will be short ones pointing to helpful MLM resources while others will be what are called “pillar” posts-longer posts that have deep content. When you write a great pillar post, submit it to one or more article directories for publication. Ezinearticles is by far the best article directory for bringing you traffic. Be sure to include a link to your blog in your resource box.

3. Tweet Your Really Cool MLM Blog Posts
You can also post a tweet (a 140-character or less blurb) about your pillar posts to Twitter. If you decide to tweet about a particular blog post, be sure to make the blurb interesting or intriguing. For instance, I recently tweeted about a post (directed at small business owners) that said, “What happens if you get hit by a beer truck tomorrow?” The tweet got a lot of response. Also be sure to include a link to the blog post in your tweet. If the link is very long you can use a service like TinyURL to shorten it (remember, you only have 140 characters per tweet).

4. Ping Your MLM Blog
One way to alert many blog services, like Technorati and Feedburner, that you have a new blog post is to “ping” them. A ping is just a notification that tells blog services you have a new post. There are many pinging services out there. Two of my favorites are Pingoat and Pingomatic. It’s good to have at least two pinging services at your disposable in case one goes down (which happens from time to time).

5. Bookmark Your MLM Blog Posts
Social bookmarking sites are also a great way to spread the word about your blog. Popular bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious are places where people can share links to content around the web. Sign up for a couple of these sites and bookmark your best blog posts. This makes your blog posts available to people who surf these bookmarking sites and drives traffic to your blog. One hint about bookmarking sites: don’t just bookmark your own blog posts but include bookmarks to other stories and sites of interest. This practice goes along with the “give to get principle.” If you give people great content (including your own blogs) then you will get traffic to your own blog. It may take you some time to research and find good content to bookmark, but it will be well worth your time since you will, over time, become known as a provider of interesting and solid content.
